Dunedin Roofing Systems and Stewart Construction were selected to design and supply a solution for an existing roof at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

It had problems with water ingress and was also poorly insulated and did not provide for safe working on roof mounted plant.

The roofing system used on this project was: Viking Warmspan and Warmroof, 2 layers of 50mm Polyiso achieving R4 thermal rating and Viking Enviroclad TPO as the waterproofing layer.

The Roofing Project

The existing roof was a mixture of Profiled metal and Membrane on a ply substrate and concrete slab.

To achieve the required insulation values Dunedin Roofing specified Viking Warmspan. This Warmroof system is made up with a profiled steel substrate, intergrated vapour barrier, two layers of 50mm PIR insulation installed providing a continuous thermal rating of R4 across the roof, eliminating the condensation issue that was occurring with the previous roof system.

The project involved the removal and recycling of all the existing materials, upgrade of the structure under the roofing, installation of Warmroof, new parapet flashings and installation of a permanent roof safety system to the perimeter.
